Harfang IP Expands R&D Program Under Owl Wireless Labs to Advance Next-Generation Wireless Technologies

Harfang IP today announced the continued expansion of its research and development (R&D) initiative, originally launched in 2022, focused on advancing wireless communications technologies. Operating under Owl Wireless Labs (OWL), the program combines cutting-edge research with targeted product development to support the evolution of 5G and the emergence of 6G systems.

Since its inception, the initiative has concentrated on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to wireless communications, enabling more efficient, adaptive, and intelligent networks. As the program scales, Harfang IP is broadening its efforts to include the development of practical solutions for wireless testing and measurement across 4G, 5G, and future 6G networks.

“Owl Wireless Labs reflects our long-term vision to lead innovation in wireless communications,” said Christian Dubuc, Founder and CEO at Harfang IP. “By combining advanced research with product development, we are creating both foundational technologies and practical tools that address real-world industry needs.”

Expanded Focus Areas

The expanded R&D initiative will pursue two complementary tracks:

  • AI-Driven Wireless Research: Continued exploration of how AI can enhance wireless network performance, efficiency, and scalability, with a focus on 5G evolution and 6G development.
  • Wireless Measurement and Testing Solutions: Development of a product platform focused on testing and measurement for 4G, 5G, and emerging 6G systems, enabling operators and technology providers to validate performance, reliability, and interoperability.

This dual approach ensures that Harfang IP remains at the forefront of both theoretical innovation and applied technology development.

Montreal Hub for Innovation

As part of the expansion, Harfang IP has begun assembling a dedicated multidisciplinary team in Montreal, which will serve as the central hub for Owl Wireless Labs. The city’s globally recognized strengths in AI and telecommunications research make it an ideal location for the initiative.

“The establishment of our Montreal-based team is a major milestone,” added Christian Dubuc. “We are building a strong foundation of talent that will drive both breakthrough research and the development of impactful products.”

Looking Ahead

The Owl Wireless Labs program will continue to evolve over the coming months, with additional announcements expected regarding team growth and partnerships.

Harfang IP’s investment in this initiative underscores its commitment to shaping the future of wireless communications through innovation, collaboration, and practical technology solutions.

Additional details about Owl Wireless Labs will be shared in the coming months.
